I wanted to write a blog on the cities I’ve been to. My first city stop was London. I was a bit jet lagged, but I was a trooper. We were only there for 1 night so I wanted to make the most of it. It was cold and more lively then expected. People don’t sleep there, it reminded me a lot of New York but with shorter and older buildings. The streets are very busy and loud.
We met with one of Clint’s friends (Luke) for drinks the day we arrived. He brought his girlfriend (Lucy) along, they are both from London so they showed us around. They took us to a roof top bar with views of the city. It was a empty because it was so cold but we shared a bottle of wine outside anyway. We ended the night with some street noodles that were actually really satisfying.
We ended the night early because I was super tired from flying all night. We stayed in an Airbnb in Soho. It was a little loud and the shower wasn’t the best but we made it work.
We woke up early the next day and explored. Clint and I like walking the city and finding our own way. We must have walked about 2/3 miles over the Thames river and back to Soho.
We had to catch our flight to Zurich the same day so we had a limited amount of time to explore but still got to see a lot. We saw the London Eye and Big Ben, which was under construction. We found a flower shop that had tuberoses, Clint’s Moms favorite flower. Every time we come across this flower we always buy it to remember her knowing she’s by our side. Before we had to leave to the airport we stopped at a ramen restaurant to have lunch. We love ramen and it was really good.
Overall London was really cool, but we didn’t have a lot of time there to take it all in. Maybe we will plan a future trip to stay a little longer there.
Extra Tips: Don’t buy a bus ticket from the airport. There are express trains that are a lot faster and about the same price if you buy the tickets in advance. Also London uses a different electrical plug then the U.S. and Europe. We weren’t prepared so I wasn’t able to do my hair :(. Luckily we had a portable charger for our phones.
